Technology is enriching lots of fields of our society and we use it to enhance learning as well. But how do we introduce technology into the classroom? And is it enough to improve the learning processes? This research aims to make clear which aspects are to be considered in the classrooms of the 21st century, and the focus is on the concept “smart”. A smart classroom is not just a place in a school with some sort of technological device, but a new scenario where three different dimensions matter: educational technology, physical ambient conditions and performed processes by the actors. All of these can be concreted by different categories gathering several characteristics to take into account to understand the smart classroom concept. At the end, such a place is conceived to promote a faster and better learning, more personalized and engaging.
