A study carried out on the impacts of tourism and sustainability seek to measure the impact that this activity has generated in different tourist destinations, focusing on its economic, cultural and environmental perspectives, as well as the tourism policies and management strategies on a sustainable basis; the rehabilitation of targets that have been affected by tourism to develop a sustainable and consistent tourism activity in terms of respect and preservation of resources, improving human lives by reducing poverty in local communities and the preservation of cultural identities.
Tourism as an economic activity has become a significant centre of socioeconomic worldwide growth, allowing it to engage in the processes to support developing countries as a key factor in the process of guidance, monitoring and mobilization of resources in the search of development of strategic alternatives to contribute to the sustainable development of tourism in local communities through the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The object of study is developed by the analysis of the development of the Colombian sustainable tourism through the effectiveness of development aid programs that have a tourist approach, and also seek to contribute to reducing poverty, promoting gender equality and ensuring environmental sustainability among others, through the development of successful and innovative activities to the social and economic growth, while minimizing the potential negative impacts, so to design a methodological tool to analyse and evaluate as sustainable tourism planning process.
The article explores the role of aid programs focused on the sustainable development of tourism in local communities in different regions of Colombia, the effectiveness and impacts of this activity and identifying the most relevant aspects of planning and development a sustainable tourism. The research and document have been divided in three phases: first, would be analysed the projects, location and their tourist activity; second, the interpretation and valued assets of sustainable tourism; and third, the proposals and guidelines.
