XVI CENTURY EUROPE PAINTING IN A MAN: PERE NUNYES

Pere Nunyes was a painter who was born in Portugal, worked most of his life in Catalonia and received lots of influences from the German, Flemish and Italian engravings. That’s what makes him so interesting, so European in his own century.

The detailed study of his canvas gives us the opportunity of appreciating all this incomes on a not yet well-known figure.

The ways to research about his life and works is being based on the documentation in archives, on iconographic and estilistic comparison, on the use of new resourses such as online timelines and digital backgrounds and obviusly analising all the bibliography.

In our Art History PhD we have been working about this painter, Pere Nunyes, and his context, as well as the artistic relations between Portugal, Catalonia and Italy.
