Since the 70’s contemporary artist Antoni Muntadas (Barcelona, 1942) has been producing and showing artworks that reflect on issues related to cognitive processes and perception. It is in the 90’s when the concept of “translation” becomes literally present in his artworks. This happens specifically in 1995, when he initiates the series called On Translation. This is an unfinished project on which the artist still works nowadays and brings together almost more than 40 artworks.

Our research is based on translation studies and border thinking literature in order to analyze the representation of translation and borders in Muntadas’ On Translation, as well as its transformations from the middle nineties to the present.
