THE CORRUGATED CARDBOARD: Concept and definitive material in contemporary sculpture. The corrugated cardboard is one of the most used materials for packaging and packaging due to its various advantages such as the protection of its content during transport and storage; identification and image; economy; as well as its recyclable and recycled nature. Demand for corrugated materials in the packaging industry has an expected growth of 4% for the next five years, totaling 115 million tonnes worth US $ 176 billion in 2019, this according to a new study of Smithers Pira called "the future of corrugated cardboard packaging until 2019" and published with the website: www.elempaque.com According to this study there are four lines that determine this growth: environmental aspects, reduction in the weight of packagings (with cardboard containers of 70 to 160 g), online shopping, and the reduction of secondary packagings with high qualities of printing. There are several factors that explain this tendency. First of all, the whole of the world economy that under the effects of globalization is causing structural changes in demand, in logistics and in the process of buying. Relocation of certain productive processes, users of the same packaging in different parts of the world, multimodal transport, rationalization and centralization of purchases, product launches worldwide, standardization of brands, among others, are key elements that make it now for now, the corrugated cardboard in a suitable raw material. Investigating all these aspects, from the creation of corrugated cardboard from raw materials, to their use as a definitive material in the world of sculpture, and to make them known, will be the purpose of my doctoral thesis .
